With age has come a greater capacity for self reflection. It seems to me that over the thousands of years of human evolution one central (truth?) is that each of us are endowed within our DNA a drive to survive. In todays world billions of people are disconnected from our original hunting and gathering roots. This disconnected existence requires them to find ways to 'earn' their sustenance. Consequently the drive to survive leads to misappropriation of resources and actions that are destructive to the species but enables the individual to survive.

In the end all we can do is chop wood and carry water.

Thank you for an interesting article.
